For some reason I found this weekend extra enjoyable.
Thursday night after I fell asleep Ben found two scorpions in our hallway (?!?!!). Also, our air conditioning stopped working. In Texas. IN AUGUST. Friday morning I headed to work, and Ben called the AC repair man, and a family friend who happens to be an exterminator. The AC was repaired and the house was sprayed before I came home at lunch time, what a relief! The unexpected bonus here is that Ben cleaned the house Friday morning since people would be over. So I came home to a cool-bug free- clean house.
As soon as I got home Ben and a whole crew of 'his boys' headed to Dallas to celebrate JD's (my brother-in-law) upcoming wedding in true boy fashion: with a bachelor party.
Betsy and I played-played-played, and I watched my cousin's baby Isaiah for a couple hours (he is just too precious for words). Then Betsy and I packed up and headed toward Austin to meet some friends for dinner and shopping at the outlet mall. We were gone from 5 to 10 pm and Betsy was very good the whole time. She flirted with lots of patrons at the restaurant, and gave her opinion (when we asked) about what onesies she liked the best at the Carter store. Friday night we were both asleep by 10:30 pm and we slept 12 hours. IT. WAS. AMAZING.
Saturday afternoon Ben and the boys made it home and Ben, Betsy and I all took a nap together, and watched a movie. And once again all three of us slept twelve hours.
Sunday we headed back toward Austin to meet JD and Tiffany (my soon-to-be sister-in-law) for lunch and to hit the Men's Warehouse to look at suits for their wedding. Tiffany and I also tried something new...it's called threading. I got my eyebrows threaded (rather than waxed). I tried to talk Ben and JD into trying it too, but they weren't budging.
We all made it back home, then I hit the grocery store for this week's fresh fruit and milk, and we called it a night.

Snoogle Bear kisses
When Ben gives Betsy kisses she laughs and laughs. Maybe she's ticklish from his beard, or maybe she just loves her Daddy. Either way it's very sweet.
Sweet Betsy pics.
Betsy watched 'So You Think You Can Dance' with me last night (while poor Ben mowed the yard, so hot!). She's rooting for Jeanine I think.

Sleeping Betsy. Look at those feet!

Pics before day two of school. Betsy was super happy when I dropped her off this morning. She gave her day care lady big smiles when we got there.

So thankful.
Today I'm feeling so thankful for my blessings. I have a wonderful family. I wonderful husband. A beautiful baby. We all enjoy good health. We have a nice home. I'm VERY thankful because we've made lots of new friends lately. I think I've been missing regular interaction with friends since I left Huntsville, so to find people we love to be around has been really wonderful.
Speaking of, last night I met up with three new friends from my cake decorating class for dinner at the Olive Garden. Laura Jane has four children. Jenny has two. Jill is pregnant with her first, and I have Betsy. They are all stay at home moms, but share my love for crafty things (and kids from listening to them talk about theirs!).
I don't know what happened. The first year or so Ben and I were here I felt like we would never find people close to our age to hang out with, but in the past six months or so many people have come into our lives and made it better. So I am thankful.

First day of school update!
It was a success. The women in charge of Betsy's room say she was a happy little camper all day. When Ben walked in to pick her up there were three babies in a Red Radio Flyer wagon and Bets was trying to push the wagon.
I am so thankful that we made it until Betsy was a little older (8 months) to start daycare. We're still sending her to Grandpa's daycare three days a week, but I'm excited about the increased interaction with other children and I want Betsy to get used to being around other people.
I'm meeting a couple girlfriends for dinner, but I can't wait to get home and kiss my baby tonight! I suspect she'll sleep well after this momentous day.

Happy Tuesday!
I have just a few pictures to share today. Life has been so busy, I have neglected the camera for a week or two!
Granny and the girl! She's holding her bottle consistently now. This morning she fed herself while I snoozed in bed next to her.

Sleep face

Betsy's first day of 'school'. She started daycare two days per week at our church. She was a very happy, giggly girl when I left this morning and I hope she has fun with all the other babies today!
