Betsy at 4 months

This morning Ben and I took Bets to the doctor for her 4 month check up and shots. She took the shots like a champ! Literally within a minute of getting her shots she was smiling and laughing having forgotten all about the traumatic experience.

Betsy's loves sticking her legs straight up in the air. Look at those chubby thighs!

We did get a referral to a plastic surgeon about a lump she has on her chest, as well as a small hematoma on her nose. These are very common in fair skinned babies and the doctor seemed confident it should lighten up and go away on its own in the next few weeks and if not, the plastic surgeon would come up with a treatment plan.

Betsy weighed in at 24.5 inches and 13.5 pounds on the dot. She is right at the 50% range which is a good thing. The doctor is impressed with her head control and ability to stand up and balance, calling her 'very active' I also thought Ben would burst with pride when Dr. Coles called her an "athletic little baby". She did her crawling/swim thing on the table and he was pleased with her progress.

Dr. C also suggested we go ahead and start stage one baby foods. We made a Target run to pick up the baby cereal, veggies and fruits and some baby bowls and spoons. Buying the spoons made me giggle, thinking of my friend Abbey's little boy who takes his spoons everywhere with him. They're like his security blanket!

Anyhow, Bets is rocking out in her jumperoo now, I'm washing dishes and laundry and enjoying every minute at home with my sweet girl. She is chattering away and Madison is laying right next to her watching.

Speaking of, Madison doesn't know what to think about Betsy's new found mobility. Last night Betsy rolled toward Maddie and Maddie got up and moved. "Respect my personal space, please!" That won't happen much longer, I have the feeling the baby and the schnauzer will beging teaming up on getting into trouble here pretty soon.

Triple date and a trip to the park.

Tonight we had a Mexican food date with Tiffany, Raymond and Ryder. Ryder slept the first half of the meal, Betsy slept the second half. Neither of them were fussy at all so we were able to enjoy our dinner.

Tiff and Ray...after they ordered the same meal, aww how cute are they?!

Bets and Ryder...cutest 4 month couple I know.

After dinner we came home and got ready to walk around our trail and play at the park. Betsy enjoys going down the slide and swinging in my arms. Here are some park pictures.

When we got home and checked the mail it was a great mail day. First, a package from Aunt Jessica and Uncle Jeremy with a card and baby's first Easter bib! What a sweet surprise :) We also got a box of books in the mail I bought off E-bay (I say bought, not won, because Ben reminds me since I have to PAY for the books I didn't win them). I digress. We have 20 new Dr. Seuss and Disney books I bought for less than a dollar each on E-bay. And finally, some online friends of mine were kind enough to send their Similac coupons because their babies don't eat Similac. Wasn't that a kind gesture? Formula coupons help SO much, when your kiddo eats a bottle of formula a day!

So, overall a great Tuesday!

Betsy happenings

Oh they grow so fast. Here are a few cute/gross things Betsy's doing these days.

1. Drool. You get the picture. Teething we believe.

2. Almost crawling. Last night Ben actually IGNORED the TV and kept saying "She's trying to crawl?!"

3. Mimicking sounds. If you say MA she says Ya. We're really working on this one.

4. Takes her ninnie out of her mouth, and holds it.

5. Tries to put her ninnie in other people's mouth. Ben told me about this one a few days ago, she tried to put her ninnie in Uncle JD's wide open trap. Yesterday I witnessed it twice. Once she was holding it and I leaned her down to give Ben a kiss and she tried to shove it in Ben's mouth. (That's baby speak for "Stop whining!" (said in best Arnold Schwarzenegger voice a la Kindergarten Cop). Then while I was singing the ABC's last night (enunciating animatedly) she actually DID shove it in my mouth, and I spit it out "bleh, blah, ugh." Would you want something that had been drooled all over shoved in YOUR mouth?

6. She has a favorite song. The ABC's. I think Grandma Jane established this one, Betsy smiles and mimics the movements with her mouth when you sing her the ABC's.

7. She turns pages. Seriously! While we read at night she starts slapping the book and I'll put her hand under the page and she turns it over.

What a big girl we have :)

Weekend update.

Lots to talk about:
Friday Betsy and I hung out at home, did some sewing, and some laundry, then Ben got home and we watched a movie. I sewed knickers for Ben to wear to his alumni golf tournament. They came out pretty cute. He LOVED them. He sat next to me and watched me sew them :)

Saturday morning we woke up at our usual time, got dressed, stopped to get gas in the car and stopped at my fabulous in-laws house to borrow their camera. I had forgotten mine at work (boo!) and I can't make a trip without a camera! Ben had a great time. I think JD enjoyed Betsy coming to the golf tournament as much as Ben coming to the golf tournament. She got lots of attention from all her "Uncles" who she hadn't met yet. They all marveled that a baby could look so much like Ben AND be that pretty ;) We made it back to Killeen at 8:30 and Ben and Betsy could barely stay awake. She was getting a little fussy at that point, so we headed home and got her to bed. She slept until 8:00 the next morning. That's a long night for her.

Sunday we did house and yard work and I did more sewing. Now that my machine is fixed I'm back to my projects! I got SO much done, but I have two little projects to finish tonight. I completed 13 blankets, 12 recieving blankets, 2 burp cloths, 10 bibs, and a pair of knickers. Tonight I need to sew 4 hankerchiefs and 2 towels, then I have an enormous bag of packages to mail across the country.

Now for the fun part, pictures from the weekend.
Bets participating with the boy bonding.

Guess who couldn't keep his hands off her? Uncle JD. Every time he saw us he'd say "Give me my baby!"

Betsy flirting with Uncle Kirkwood. The boys love her.

Look at that stud muffin. Do his argyle socks perfectly match his argyle sweater vest? Best looking man at the event.

Our partners in crime for the day, Leah and sweet McKenzie!

Second best looking man at the golf tournament.

JD's team, who wore kilts.

Friday happenings.

Friday happenings.

- Ben's soccer team lost Tuesday, they are out of the playoffs. The boys were disappointed but they had a fantastic season.

- I've put in an application with our local ISD and I hear my references are being checked. Keep your fingers crossed for an interview!

- This weekend Ben, Betsy and I will be headed to Huntsville (our college town) for Ben's alumni golf tournament. I'm planning to meet up with a few friends from college and introduce Betsy to Ben's friends.

- I finally got my sewing machine fixed and it was kind of nice for Ben to take Daddy duty last night so I could watch a movie and sew. I made two baskets, each containing a blanket, bib, burp cloth, hat, socks, baby Tylenol, diapers and wipes. These are for a shower at his school. (please ignore my un-made bed and the Schnauz napping in the background).

- I'm taking it easy today. This week at work has been Busy with a capital B, so I'm just going to head home, do some laundry and snuggle with Bets. And maybe sew some more if she cooperates. I hope you all have a fantastic weekend!

OH! And YEA! for my friend Corie who welcomed a new member of her family yesterday...Makenna Deborah Murphy. I can't wait to see pictures of the sweet girl. Congrats Corie!
