Not-so-manic Monday

I am home sick today. Actually I've been sick since Friday evening but today is the first day I'm able to eat and function. I kept Betsy home with me since I no longer have a fever and we're making up for spending most of the weekend apart. Ben took on most of the parenting duties this weekend since I was out of commission. I went to the doctor this morning (I really don't like going to the doctor so you know it was serious) and I'm having a few test run to make sure everything is OK. I suspect I've just been more susceptible to getting sick since Betsy arrived with getting less sleep and less down time.

Anywho, here are a few pictures of the sweet girl today!

A very common sight in our house, Betsy throws her head back when she laughs (or cries). I prefer the former to the latter.

Look at her multi-tasking. Her new favorite thing is standing between the two activity tables and playing with both at once.

Betsy has really come to love her baby doll.

While I really, REALLY don't want Betsy to get hooked on TV I did decide to move a TV from my sewing room into her play room. She doesn't watch it so much as she listens to the sing along DVDs while she plays with her toys. It's an itty bitty TV, does that make it less bad ;)?

Outside view of the playroom. I moved the gate inside the room so I could put a TV and DVD player inside. It's nice, the Laurie Berkner Band CD and Barney and Friends provide nice background music for Bets while she's playing.

And of course, Betsy's a happy girl on sweet potato night.

Thursday night fun

Some nights I get home from work and it seems like in a blink of an eye it's the next morning. Other nights aren't like that. Yesterday I picked Ben and Betsy up from our house and we had mexican food for dinner. As soon as we got home we walked a mile around the park then played on the swings and the slides with Betsy. When we got home Betsy had bath time, got ready for bed, Ben fed her a bottle and put her to bed and I ran to Walmart to pick up a few items. I came home, did the ironing, played online and got to bed about 10:30. That seems like a lot to do in the few hours I'm home before bed! I'm sure it helped I left work ON TIME!! for the first time in a month. I am SO glad that Monday is the last day students can register for classes, and my work schedule will return to usual.

Walking to the park from our house.

Easily the highlight of my day, listening to Betsy laugh while swinging.

Look at the twins!

Bets and Ben go down the BIG slide. Fun for Betsy! For Ben, not so much.

Trying to take a picture of Betsy on the big rock in the middle of the park...but she kept trying to crawl off the big rock.

Worn out, Betsy gets a ride home.

After the park it was time for Betsy's bath. Betsy loves bath time. I suspect she's like her Mommy in that she doesn't like to sweat and she likes to smell good. I also suspect her love for bath time has something to do with playing with her ducks and Daddy making quacking noises.

And finally, Betsy is most commonly found...crawling after Madison.

Sometimes I wish...

i could see the future. In this specific instance I'm thinking ahead for Christmas planning purposes. Ben and I both get off from work December 18th through January 3rd. A nice long chunk of time.

I think we'll make a road trip to see my parents and sister but I don't know where we'll be! Georgia, Florida... It depends on if GA tech makes a bowl game, and if so when and where that game would be. If we are in Florida I am thinking Ben and I will be spending a couple days at Walt Disney World. Ben has never seen WDW and it's been eight years since I went. I think Disney would be a blast at Christmas, maybe we could start a family tradition. So my wish today was NOT to know the lottery numbers for tonight's $252 Mega millions drawing, but to know the outcome of the GA tech football season. Ha.

Speaking of holidays, I am SUPER excited for Fall this year! Cooler weather, football season, Ben's Potato Soup and Chili (fall foods), not to mention all the plans we already have in the works for the next 4 months! Betsy and I are going to see my Atlanta family in two weeks, I'm heading to Dallas the weekend after that to host a baby shower, throwing a couple's shower for the soon-to-be-married JD and Tiff in October, Betsy's first Halloween and Thanksgiving, Betsy's first birthday! and JD and Tiff's wedding! Then Christmas a couple weeks later. Doesn't that sound like a busy four months?

Quick update!

Friday I worked on sewing projects, and bought a ton of diapers since they were tax free! I went to bed early and Ben got up with the sweet girl Saturday morning so I could sleep in (and recover!) from a very long, hard week. When I finally woke up we packed up the car to head to Belton and hang out with our friend's the Osbornes.

After swimming, playing with Betsy and a couple games of Wii Tiger Woods golf we headed out to pick up a bite to eat, a few things I needed for sewing projects and headed home. Ben's brother was in town so he stayed over and played with Ben and Betsy.

Sunday morning Betsy's friend Ryder was baptised at our church. Betsy was so good through the service, until the Lord's prayer when she tried to loudly pray along with us.

Ryder in his baptism gear.

Betsy visiting with family friends.

The baptism was beautiful, and we loved when the pastor called little Ryder a chunkster.

Sunday afternoon we had lunch with the soon to be married JD and Tiffany, Ben and JD watched Bets while I got the groceries, and we hung out at home! I worked on invitations for a while for a baby shower I'm helping with and I loved how they turned out.

In all the weekend went by WAY to fast but I got lots of stuff done, most importantly resting up for my last week of registration (hooray!).

What a week!

It's peak busy time at my place of business. We're registering students for the coming Fall semester. This week was the busiest of the year. Yesterday I worked a super long day! I've been working usually 7:30 am to 6ish but last night I got home at almost 9 pm. Betsy was already asleep. I missed putting her to bed :(

HOWEVER, next week is easier. We don't have to stay as late and while I haven't taken a lunch break in about a month the college has been providing us Jason's Deli everyday and the steady diet of sandwiches, fruit, veggies and spinach wraps has helped me lose a few pounds. I am so glad it's Friday. I have things to do (lots of sewing!) but more importantly I want to be with Ben, Betsy and recharge my battery so-to-speak.

Thank you to everyone who participated in the sale I posted on the blog! All the emails and inquiries have been great, I sold about half the stuff I had stored! The extra money is going to a special savings account so Ben and I can save up for some cabinets to be built in our living room. Thank you again :)

By the way! To the Texas moms or moms-to-be who read the blog it's tax free weekend! Diapers and baby clothes are included in that. I'll be stocking up on size 3 diapers since we're down to just a few more boxes of unopened diapers (and I'm a diaper hoarder :)

Apples and teeth

Poor Betsy. I suspect all four upper middle teeth are coming in at once. I can feel them pushing down. She has a low grade fever before bed every night. She drools like a faucet and she can't keep her hands out of her mouth.

She loves this mesh feeder thing. She loves it with Banans and ice, but last night Ben put an apple inside and it was LOVE at first bite. I suspect something harder to crunch on feels good to her.

Now that Betsy is consuming solidish foods (cereal, cookies, bannanas, apples, chips and queso (kidding)) Madison is WAY more interested in her. She sniffs around hoping Betsy is in the mood to share (she usually does).

MADISON! How many teeth can you count?

Apples, yum.

**!SALE!**

After work today I came home and worked on a few projects. One of those projects happened to be cleaning out my sewing closet. When I find cute embroiderable items for a reasonable price I buy them and store them for future use! Until I emptied my closet I didn't realize how much I had accumulated. LOTS of stuff.

Tote bags, aprons, kitchen towels, bath towels, beach towels, receiving blankets, baby blankets, bibs, hats, handkerchiefs, travel coffee mugs, check book covers, cosmetic bags, golf shoe bags, and more.

So the thought occurred to me that I should have a sale. Anybody interested?! PLEASE! Buy something! Help me clean out my embroidery closet!

I'm going to attach pictures of some of the items I've done in the past. If something jumps out at you that YOU would like, or would make a great Christmas or birthday gift for someone you know just reply here or email me at thatsewshannon@hotmail.com.

Thanks for reading :)

I have towels available in red and white or yellow and white.

I have these available in blue, green and pink

I made the baby...and I embroidered the crown. I'm offering to sell a personalized crown, not the baby ;)

Blabber mouth.

Betsy speak:

She still rambles Ahma Ahma Ahma when she's upset. She wants Mama to pick her up.

She still says Ahba when she sees the bottle come out of the microwave until it goes in her mouth.

She says ungee when she's hungry.

Yesterday she cried and said pffttt..ninnie! pfft ninnie! because she was stuck in her car seat and her ninnie had fallen out of her mouth.

And last night I asked her what book she wanted to read, I gave her a mini scrap book to hold and she said buh..buh...buh..book...book...buh while I changed her diaper.

All these things happened in about a week time! I can't wait to hear more :)

Betsy Bear

Brace yourself for the cuteness.

Is that a tail on Betsy Bear? I think it is!

What's this? A pouch to hold her teddy bear!

Too cute Tuesday!

Betsy loves her new Leap Frog activity table. I bought two from a woman off Craig's List. They were a huge success.

Betsy checking out her new Stride Rite kicks. She's getting used to wearing shoes!

Sharing a fudgecicle with Daddy. Yum.

Post fudgecicle, see why we let her eat it 'shirts off'?

Betsy dressed for school this morning. Now Betsy, do those shorts meet the dress code? They look a little short to me. Speaking of, as we walked into the church this morning the toddler class walked by. Betsy squealed and bounced up and down in my arms. She LOVED watching the 'little bit bigger' kids walk by.
