My six month sweetie.

It's hard to believe Betsy was born a full SIX MONTHS ago. That's a half a year! This morning we had her six month check up with Dr.C. I've said it before, I'll say it again I love this doctor. It's such a relief to find a doctor you feel cares about your child, takes his time to get to know your family, and remembers your child's history.

Betsy weighed in at 16 pounds on the dot, 25 inches long, and 17.3 inch head circumference. All measurements right around the 50th percentile. She took an oral vaccine and was given three shots. She bounces back from these so fast, I was amazed she let out one cry then forgot about it. She didn't even need Tylenol this time around.

At six months Betsy is sitting. Dr. C says she has great balance. She's crawling (no longer army crawling, full fledged belly off the floor moving across the whole room at the blink of an eye). She babbles in consonants now, this morning she said bye. Seriously! I'm sure she doesn't mean anything yet but Dr.C thinks by 9 months she'll be using words. She's doing so well with stage one foods that we're going to try Stage two foods after we finish our current selection. I think she's going to take well to these, being that she prefers the thicker foods we've fed her. She's not a huge fan of peaches which are super runny. She sleeps ten hours a night.

And finally when Dr. C was holding Betsy she let out a cry and reached for me. Dr.C says "Ah, stranger anxiety, that's an advanced social skill!". Of course I love a doctor who takes my wailing child and deems this 'being advanced'.

I feel so blessed that Betsy has gone to Grandpa's daycare. Dr.C and I talked about Betsy's overall health and even if at some point Betsy goes to mothers-day-out or day care it's been great to keep her with family for the first six months. She's had one or two bouts of tummy illness, but nothing that has required a trip to the doctor.

All for now, have a great week everyone!
I can't smile for the camera with my ninnie in my mouth.

MOM, WHERE did you get this dress?!

What did Betsy do today?

She took a walk with Dad.

Well, her Daddy walked, and she rolled.

She took a nice, long nap!

She wrestled a bear, and WON!

She replaced the batteries in the remote control.

Hung out in the Bumbo and played with Maddie.

Lazy Saturday

I love weekends like this one. Not many plans, but plenty of fun relaxing with Ben and Bets. I worked this morning, we are preparing for a big audit at work starting Monday. Thankfully this is the last overtime I'll need to work until August registration rolls around! I wanted to share some Betsy pictures from today.

The bottom two teeth make a peeking appearance now and then when she smiles. That happens to be all the time!

EJB has become quite a good eater! These pictures from dinner tonight show how much neater she is. She used to leave a whole lot more on her face and bib. Not any more!

Super Dad!

I must admit, I was pretty impressed with Ben's first afternoon home with Betsy. When I walked in the door at six the house had been picked up (minus his taking apart my office closet in search for the spare car key), the baby had been fed and bathed, there was a roast prepared for dinner, the laundry basket was empty, the dishwasher was empty and the bottles had been made.

I'm one lucky lady!

Happy early Anniversary and Birthday to me!

Our wedding anniversary and my birthday are next month. I'm not big on surprises, or really gifts for my birthday. It's just not something I want a fuss made over. HOWEVER, I let Ben know I would really love a kitchen aid stand mixer, especially because I'm taking a cake decorating classes and will be making gobs of butter cream frosting in the future. He gave me the go ahead, and pretty much insisted I get this. I picked it up on my lunch break yesterday, and Ben brought it in for me last night and I marveled over the beauty of my new *pink* mixer. I even considered taking a picture with all my favorite things. It would consist of Ben holding Betsy, with the sewing machine one one side of him, this mixer on the other and the Dyson behind him. Nothing like a beautiful new appliance to make Shannon giddy.

Shannon post shower, pre-bed LOVING her birthday/anniversary present.

My thoughtful husband opening the box so I don't accidentally cut myself. HEY! What are the chances THAT would happen?

I LOVE IT! Imagine all the butter cream frosting, Italian Cream Cakes, Pumpkin Rolls and Peanut Butter brownies I'll make with it.

Few weekend pictures

Low-key was the name of the game this weekend. I worked on my tan. Betsy did some laps in the kiddie pool. I re-organized the kitchen. I did some sewing. Betsy bumped up to two meals/containers of baby food per day. Ben ran errands with his parents and got ready for a fishing trip coming up. We went to Austin for lunch with JD and for Ben to get fitted for an upcoming wedding. Ben's parents came over for dinner last night. AND!!! It's Ben's last week of school before he stays home for the summer with Betsy. Here are a handful of pics from the super-relaxing weekend.

Happy Bets in the jumperoo while I sewed on Sunday.

Betsy: Sunbathing Beauty

Betsy loves her new kiddie pool. She was a little nervous for the first few minutes but once she got comfortable with the water she seemed to enjoy it. Here are a few pictures of her fun in the sun the past couple days!
Bets in her adorable swim shorts, thanks Tiff-Ray!

Swimming sweetie. She's started 'herding' her ducks together. It's adorable!
