A Not-So-Mild obsession

We've reached the point of no return, Betsy is in love with Elmo. I realized how intense her infatuation was this morning when she HAD to go back in the bathroom and tell the Elmo toothbrush bye-bye before we left for school. Betsy has one Sesame Street DVD, and she names many of the characters (Cookie, Abby, Bird) but the only character who elicits squeals of delight is Elmo.

I've decided to do an Elmo themed birthday for Betsy in honor of her looooove of the little red guy. I'm not making big plans, but I have two Elmo shirts, two Elmo movies, five books (four of which were found in the Target dollar bins, one was on the bargain shelf at Barnes and Noble), and (hopefully) a pair of Elmo slippers in her size for her birthday presents.

I'm probably going to make cupcakes myself and look for Elmo toppers for the cupcakes. AND...the best part... I'm looking for an adult size Elmo costume for sale this Halloween and Ben is going to dress as Elmo on her birthday. What a TROOPER, that Daddy of hers!

On another note, I'm planning on celebrating Betsy's birthday November 7th (it's a Sunday) rather than December 8th. I want to make sure Betsy has a special day before all the ruckus of the new baby happens. I'm not throwing a big party this year, but I think we'll just invite our immediate family and local friends over for pizza and cupcakes.

GT game day dress!

In honor of Uncle Sean's first game of the season Betsy wore this sweet dress yesterday. It must have been good luck, GT played well and Sean played great. I can't wait to see how they do the rest of the season and I'm looking forward to the televised games!

Alone time

Thought of the day... as my swollen pregnant self was the only one chasing Betsy around for the last fourty-eight hours I longed for a break. For some alone time. This morning at 7:30 I headed to Starbucks and bought myself a Pumpkin Spice Latte, and picked up kolaches for Ben and Bets. I was happy to be home with them again. I'm pretty sure it's not alone time I want, it's just that I take for granted at times how much of a helper Ben is when present. I don't have to ask him to take Betsy off my hands if I need a little break, he steps in before that point is reached.

Now I want to go run some errands, and Ben doesn't really want to go, and Betsy is taking a nap, so I SHOULD go alone but I don't want to, I'd rather go with the two of them.

Does this make me indecisive or fickle?

Ah forget it, I'll run to Target and the mall, and be back in no time. I'm pretty sure Betsy doesn't care if I'm here anyways as she's SOOO excited to see "DADDY DADDY DADDY DADDY DADDY" back home. HE'S the greatest thing since sliced bread, or Elmo or something.

Signs of Fall around our house...

I may be jumping the gun a little bit, but I love this time of year! There should be a baby 'falling' out of me at some point, another reason to look forward to Fall!

Looks like Fall! I can't wait to add some pumpkins to the front porch!

Smells like Fall (yum!)

Sounds like Fall (there's always football background noise)

And I think I'll have my first taste of Fall tomorrow too...a Pumpkin Spiced Latte from Starbucks!

Week 27 pregnancy pictures

It's hard to believe I have another 10ish weeks until I'm full term. I feel so round already!

For comparison, this was me at 26 weeks pregnant with Betsy. I think I look about a month further along this time.

Feeling yucky and lucky

I was sick yesterday. I had a virus that I suspect I picked up at the hospital when I went to meet the new cousin. It started at 5 am, and mostly was over by this morning, though I'm still having some residual stomach pains. So I felt yucky.

BUT I also felt lucky for a couple reasons. My in-laws came and picked up Betsy since I couldn't crawl out of bed long enough to drive her to daycare. They also sent over some homemade chicken and rice soup that was divine after only eating a half a peanut butter sandwich all day. Also, I felt pretty lucky to be OVER this the day before Ben went out of town for a Cross Country meet.

On a brighter note, it's labor day weekend, woo hoo! College football has begun!! And I have Monday off!! YEA for three day weekends!

Welcome!

My cousin Jessica had a beautiful baby boy yesterday! She went into labor (on her due date!) at about 1 in the morning, headed to the hospital, and delivered by 10 am. Brody Camden Hackney is 21 inches long and weighs 8 pounds, 5.6 ounces.

I headed over to the hospital this morning to see Jessica and Brody, and my cousin Cynthia came by at the same time! We had a nice time visiting and I held Brody for a while (though I had to fight Cynthia for the pleasure (just kidding ;). I forget how little, quiet, and mushy they are as newborns! This makes me excited to meet my own wee one in a while!
